Cambridgeshire is a county in England that is on the eastern side of the country and next to the counties of Suffolk, Lincolnshire and Essex. it is an area steeped in history and being only 50 miles from London is very accessible. It is home to the county town of Cambridge which is most famous for the University of Cambridge. The university is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the world and accepts only the academically elite. Students have to apply earlier than the rest of the UK universities (Oxford also being part of this) and are expected to meet additional application criteria. Places are only on offer after a face to face interview and students with outstanding grades and extra-curricular activities are regularly rejected. Applications are received from all around the world. The architecture of the university is seen dominating the skyline of the town particularly the university library and the kings college chapel.

Burwell is a fairly large village in Cambridgeshire a few miles from Newmarket and Cambridge. It has the remains of a castle there and is twinned with two towns in France. In 1727 a tragic accident took place in a barn in the village when 78 people were killed in a fire. A plague is located on the site of the tragedy in commemoration and the dead are buried in the local graveyard.
